Seven Earth sized planets have been found orbiting a dwarf star named Trappist-1.

Trappist-1 is about 40 light-years, (235 trillion miles) away from Earth, which is surprisingly close. With Trappist-1 so close, and the orbit paths of the planets being fairly consistent, NASA is able to study them in great detail.

Scientist believe that because of the distance from the planets to the star, these exoplanets could hold oceans; and even more exciting, life!  Even if life isn’t found on one of these planets we will still have learned a lot from examing them, such as what keeps life from flourishing.

This new exciting discovery has scientist all searching for more planets near Trappist-1 and this discovery has open a door to new scientific studies.
