Midway through their season, Kohala Cowgirls came out swinging against Hawaii Prep Ka Makani Tuesday (Sept. 12) night at the Varsity Girls volleyball game. Taking the lead from the start, Kohala won the first set 25-16 but lost a close second set 26-28. Kohala recovered in the third set, setting the bar at 25-17, but fell short in the fourth 12-25. The fifth set was filled with action worthy of instant replay as the two rivals battled for the overall win. Cowgirls pulled through 15-11 in the fifth and final set, scoring a victory over the reputable HPA team.

Junior Varsity also started strong but dropped the ball after the first set. Coming out of a steady first set 25-19 and a loss in the second 15-25, the JV Cowgirls failed to maintain a lead and finished 15-17 in the final set.
