Kohala High Close to Winning Food Fight Competition

Kohala High Close to Winning Food Fight Competition

Andrew Trump, Assistant Editor

As many of you know, Kohala High School  is participating in the Hawaii Island Food Fight sponsored by Nativefm.com. The Food Fight is a competition between schools across the Big Island. The Leo Club has been heading up the drive at Kohala High, but lots of people including the office ladies are getting involved and excited. The competition is judged by the school who donates the most pounds of food. As of the last update Kohala is in third place with 1947 lbs. behind Kelakehe and Laupahoehoe, however they just sent in 700 lbs. and more is on its way. The winner of the competition receives a concert at their school, a waterpark party with inflatable slides, and a cash prize to go towards project grad. Many students are getting anxious to see the results while trying to contribute, but we need the communities help.

The food drive ends on Jan. 31st but the last day Kohala will be accepting food is Friday Jan 27th. It would be greatly appreciated if people could bring non-perishable items to the school office or registrar. There will also be a drive at the boys basketball homecoming game against HPA on Friday where people can bring food.
