School at Risk of Losing Bus Services

The State Department of Education released a list of the schools at risk of losing their bus service. There was a proposal that Oahu middle schools would be the first to have their bus service taken away. Middle schools in city areas of the neighbor islands would be next, then the elementary schools on Oahu. A second proposal would be that $22 million dollar would be cut in student transportation operations for the next school year.

In my opinion, I don’t think that it’s right to take away buses from schools. Many students use the bus for school. Most parents work in the morning or don’t finish work until late afternoons, and they can’t pick up their kid(s). So having bus services are important for students and parents. Also, without the bus service many students would have a hard time finding a ride to school.
