KHS Students Get Involved in 2012 Election

Tuesday, November 6, was the day our state and nation voted to elect our next leaders. In the days leading up to it some teachers took time to talk to students about the election, they asked questions such as; who would the students prefer as their next President? Several classes also held small debates over who would make a better President. Some students said they would not want Romney because he often contradicts what he says, others said that they didn’t want Obama to be President again because he hadn’t done anything for the country.

Some students participated in Kids Voting Hawaii(an online poll where Hawaii students had the chance to vote for President and other leaders in Hawaii). Although the votes didn’t count it was a good way for kids to be involved in important decisions, which our state and nation makes. Having students become more aware about our nations issues is a great way to expand their knowledge and critical thinking skills.
