2013 Relay For Life

Kassie Kometani, Editor

It’s that time of year again! Relay For Life is just around the corner and people in the community are getting their teams ready. Teams participating include the North Kohala Community Hospital, Kohala Family Health Center, and Kohala families. Every year Kohala High School students also participate in Relay For Life. Each class gets together and organizes a team to fundraise for the cause.

Along with walking laps all night,  teams can put together booths at the event. The booths offer a wide variety of food, baked goods, shaved ice, kids games, drinks, jewelry, and more. This year students are preparing booths filled with face painting, candy, and more. All the money that is raised will go to the American Cancer Society to support them in their search of a cure.

There is scheduled entertainment all night long including the popular band Positive Motion, a taiko drumming performance, Zumba, and more. The community is encouraged to come out to Kamehameha Park on August 10th at 6:00 to visit the booths and support the participating teams.
