Will Nintendo go Bankrupt?

Robert Victorino, Journalist

The company that single-handedly saved video gaming in the 80’s, the company that has made many games that had guided the gaming industry to where it is today, that company is Nintendo.  In January Nintendo announced that they will not be meeting their earning expectation for the year and that will be taking a loss in profit.  One of their products, the Wii U, fell short of their expectations, not selling nearly as much as they needed to turn a profit.  This loss resulted in their stock value dropping 18% over night.  The console, Wii U, was hoped to sale 9 million units by the end of 2013, which was a year and a few months after its release.  They only sold 2.8 million units by the end of 2013.  When the Wii U was released, there were many problems with the software being slow, there were hardly any exclusive games for the Wii U, Nintendo failed to market the Wii U as a next generation console, which it wasn’t even to begin with.  At this point it seems that Nintendo doesn’t even seem interested in trying to bring success to the Wii U.
