Swimming States!

Genevieve Boyle, Reporter

On Friday February 14 & Saturday February 15 at the Kamehameha Kea’au pool, Kohala’s own Kassie Kometani is going to be competing in the HHSSA state championships! Friday is prelims and swimmers will be competing for a spot in the finals on Saturday. Only the top 8 move on to finals. Prelims on Friday start at 3:30pm and finals start at 1:00pm on Saturday.

Kassie will be competing in the 100 yard freestyle and 50 yard freestyle. She is seated 4th for the 50 yard freestyle that she placed 1st in during BIIFS and 5th for the 100 yard freestyle that she placed 2nd in during BIIFS.

Last year during the state championships in Oahu at the UH Manoa pool Kassie placed 3rd in her 50 yard freestyle and 5th in her 100 yard freestyle. Her time for her 100 yard freestyle this year is faster than last years state finals.

We look forward to seeing great results this weekend. Big congratulations on making it to states!
