Kassie Kometani places 3rd in State Championships!

Congratulations to Kassie Kometani who brought home the bronze medal for her 50 yard freestyle! She placed 11th in her 100 yd freestyle with a final time of 55.33 seconds. Her prelim time for her 50 yd free was 25.02 seconds and her final time was 24.60 seconds. Her time dropped by .42 seconds in her finals. Kometani was the first girl from Kohala to place in States.

The state championships were held on February 14-15, 2014 at the Kamehameha Kea’au Campus. Punahou took home the overall team championships for both the boys and girls. The Big Island was represented very well by swimmers from all around the Island placing and winning titles during the state championships. This year at states, there were 8 records broken by swimmers across the state. One of which was by senior Cara Jernigan from Kealakehe.

Kometani made Kohala proud this year bringing home the BIIF title and placing in the HHSAA State Championships. Congratulations on your accomplishments this year, Kohala waits to hear more!
