Fans of the cartoon shows “Avatar the Last Airbender” and “Legend of Korra” got together to donate money to Engineers Without Borders. Engineers Without Borders is a non-profit humanitarian organization that partners with developing communities across the globe to improve their quality of life. They are spread out in 47 different nations.

Fans of the Avatar series got together to raise money for Engineers Without Borders through the website Reddit. Fans were given incentive to donate by being offered prizes for donating. Once a fan donated a dollar or more, they’d be entered for a chance to win a deck of Avatar playing cards. A donation of $10 or more entered them in for a chance to win prizes such as any single copy of the Avatar comic book and a copy of “The Sims 3” and various other video games available for the PC. Finally, a donation exceeding $30 would enter them in to win one of 5 bleached shirts courtesy of a fellow Avatar fan, a copy of the “Avatar Art Book”, and one of 5 vinyl sticker packs.

The money raised will be put to use by Engineers Without Borders to further their projects around the world. An example of said projects is the “South Denver Professional Chapter” in Brazil. It’s an agricultural project still in the planning stages. It involves the construction of an irrigation system and coffee planting.
