Chertavian is Well and Returning!

Alexis Ella Matundan, Reporter

This past December news broke that Mr. Vahan Chertavian was diagnosed with throat cancer. After numerous radiation and chemo treatment, the doctor says he is pretty positive that the cancer is gone. A CAT scan from last week showed that his lymph nodes and tonsils are back to normal. The stomach tube and IV port have been recovered from his body.

Although his stamina has not yet recovered, his immune system is back to normal and he’s capable of doing what he wants to do. Now all Mr. Chertavian has to do is get his paper work done, return his wife Lynda’s car to Philly and come home to the Big Island. He will be home by Mother’s Day and home for Kohala High School’s Class of 2014 Graduation.  He’s eager to come home and surely his students are too.

Mr. Chertavian will be returning to Florida in June for a PET scan to assure that the cancer is gone.
