Receiving third-place for the second year, and qualifying for the Hawaii High School Athletic Association tournament for the fifth year in a row, the Cowgirls softball team headed to Oahu to play in the state championships.

A one week “stay-cation” was far from what the young softball team had. Flying in on Tuesday May 6, 2014, the Cowgirls had a scheduled game for 5 p.m. against McKinley. The turn out of that game could have been better but the softball girls took the loss 12-1. The following day May 7th, due to the loss the Cowgirls played Lana’i. Again, Kohala took a hard loss…11-0. These two losses placed the Cowgirls at 12th place in the HHSAA tournament.

Although the sun didn’t shine through on Kohala’s side the Cowgirls managed to move on from it and enjoy the rest of the trip.

Players said they took the loss with knowing they’ve done all they could. Leaving everything on the field was exactly what the Kohala Cowgirls did. The fact that a young team made it that far says a lot. There’s future potential and great things going ahead of them!
