Grandparents: the Ones Who Love To Spoil!

“When everyone else is too busy, grandparents are always there for you!” – Unknown

Who are our grandparents? Of course we know that they are our parent’s parents. But they are so much more than that! Whether you call them Grandpa and Grandma; or Papa and Nana; or Meemaw and Peepaw, they’ll always be the ones ready to spoil you and the rest of their grandkids. They are wise, caring, loving, intelligent, and supportive. Grandparents have many jobs from being the unsaid backup babysitters to the backbone of their own kids. Growing up, you always wanted to go to Grandma and Grandpa’s house because you know they’ll always have good snacks and yummy food waiting for you, not to mention they’ll eventually get you those toys that you only have to ask a few times for because they can’t say “no” to our cute faces. Majority of the time we don’t realize how much they do for us because they’ve always been supportive since before the grandkids were born.

My grandparents have always been apart of my life and they were amazing. As a kid you become used to having certain people around you, like your grandparents. Sometimes we don’t realize how much of an impact a person can make until after they’re gone. When I was a little girl, before I started elementary school, I was babysat by my grandparents (on the days I didn’t go to my sitter). I was pretty much with them every other day and I didn’t know how much they spoiled me. Most of the time, my grandparents had fully-loaded stashes of “goodies” from little chocolates to crackers to chips, all kines! I will always remember them telling me to go ahead and eat whatever I wanted.  I actually can’t remember a time where I left my grandparent’s house hungry! They always made sure everyone was fed and stuffed, especially with “get togethers.” That’s another specialty of grandparents, always feeding everyone, especially the growing grandkids. Another thing that make grandparents the greatest is the fact that you can always learn something from them, from simple cooking recipes to life lessons and they know what they’re talking about! One piece of advice that I’ll always remember from my grandpa is, “as long as you play your hardest, it doesn’t matter whether you win or lose,” which leads me to my next best thing about grandparents. They will be your best supporters in everything you do. They love watching their grandkids perform the best they can be. I can say that I can’t remember a game where I haven’t seen a grandparent in crowd. There are many things I could say about grandparents, but I think I’ve mentioned the “jist of it.”

Remember to cherish the moments you have with the people you love!
