On March 21, 2015 Kohala’s softball team faced the Waiakea Warriors. The starting line up was Missy Fernandez (SS) Ashlyn Van Zandt (3B) Setsuko Kimura (1B) Kadence Coito (C) Symphony Kauanoe (P) Jurnee Keawe (LF) Kiana Alejandro-Cazimero (2B) Kumulani Kaai (RF) Kaila Tabiolo-Amaral (CF). In the top of the fifth inning, Desha Yamasaki-Cazimero, and Kiera Javillonar went in for Kaai and Tabiolo-Amaral. Kyrah-lee Sol pinch hit for Alejandro-Cazimero.

The Cowgirls scored two runs in the first inning and held the Warriors down with only four batters to come up to bat. The teams were up and up all the way to the seventh inning. They went into extra innings after the game was tied at 5-5 in the seventh. In the eighth inning there were no outs, the first batter of the inning hit a fly between right and center. The outfielders, Desha Yamasaki-Cazimero and Kiera Javillonar, collide in attempt of catching the ball. Javillonar raced to the ball and threw it in. The runner gained a triple. The game was at the most intense part where everything mattered. The next batter up hit it up the middle to the pitcher, Kauanoe, and got her out at first with the runner kept at third. It went back to the top of the line up. The batter hit a foul ball to the left fielder, Keawe, and she caught it. The third base runner tagged up and scored.

The game ended with the score of 6-5, Waiakea taking the win. The girls played their hearts out and gave it their all. Acknowledging the girls on their performance in the game, Cowgirls Assistant Coach Lavinia Holschuh said, “This is the proudest I can be without taking the win.”
