Eruption of Kilauea

Maya Anderson, Reporter

The eruption of Kilauea is continuing at two locations, the vent within Halema’uma’u Crater and the Pu’u  ‘O’o vent. During the day there are vigorous amount of volcanic gas that remind the visitors of the molten rock churning in the lava lake in the crater. After sunset, there is a visible glow that illuminates the clouds and plume. The summit lava lake spilled a short distance out of the crater. There have been rockfalls and explosions that splattered on the Halema’uma’u crater rim. There has also been earthquake activity in the Kilauea summit.
