As of August 31st 2015, hurricane Jimena has regained strength and remains a powerful category 4 hurricane in the east Pacific. On Monday The National Hurricane Center stated Jimena was located about 1,330 miles east of Hilo, moving at about 16 miles per hour westward. Jimena is expected to decrease in speed over the course of the next few days.

Hurricane Jimena will likely maintain its strength for the next day or so then weaken gradually. Jimena has had max sustained winds up to 150 miles per hour with occasional higher gusts.

At this point Jimena’s tropical storm force winds are extending outwards up to 175 miles, it’s hurricane winds are extending outwards up to 60 miles per hour from it’s center.

Jimena has been named the tenth hurricane of the Eastern Pacific hurricane season thus far. At this point in time hurricane Jimena poses no threat to land. However, it is too early to tell what impacts it will have on our islands at the moment.
