Kim Davis Still Refusing!

Kim Davis, the now “infamous” marriage license clerk who recently got released from jail is now still refusing to give same sex couples their marriage license when they come in asking for them.

She recently got jailed for not giving the police any other option but to jail her. But when another same sex couple came in asking for a marriage license she again denied “In the name of the lord”. Apparently vowing not to give any more same sex couples their licenses.

But even with her vow, it didn’t phase the couple Carmen and Shannon Wampler-Collins who went into the county office and walked out with a newly issued marriage license in hand.

After being jailed for a five day period, Monday (September 14th) was her first day back on the job and she was not backing down from her side on the subject. But she did allow her other clerks in the county to give out licenses as long as they didn’t have her name or title on them. (Via CNN) Davis states that any (Same-sex) licenses would not issued or authorized by her.

People there are questioning the licenses being issued and if they are even valid. but their was a court order that states  “I’m… Confident and satisfied that the licenses that were issued last week (and) this morning substantially comply with the law in Kentucky”

A now famous quote by a George Takei commented on the issue and stated “Well this is a bit of a circus. So let us be clear: This woman is no hero to be celebrated. She broke her oath to uphold the constitution and defied a court order so she could deny government services to couples who are legally entitled to be married. She is entitled to hold her religious beliefs, but not impose her beliefs on others. If she had denied marriage certificates to an interracial couple, would people cheer her? Would presidential candidates flock to her side? In our society we obey civil laws, not to religious ones. To suggest otherwise is, simply put, entirely un-American”

I agree with this quote but still respect others for their own opinions. People shouldn’t try to force their religious beliefs onto others. Everyone should be treated the same as we are all human. Although I do hope everyone gets compensation for this!
