Kohala Cross Country Makes Waves At Keeau Race

Kaid, Reporter

On Saturday, October 10th, the Kohala Cross Country team hopped in a school van and made their way over to Kea’au to compete.

When they arrived, the weather was punishing. With no wind and an unforgiving sun, everyone attending was feeling the heat. However, by the time the boy’s race started, the weather was changing. Clouds started to gather as competitors raced around the course that weaved through grassy areas and patches of sidewalk.

Kohala’s own Chance Souze did stellar, landing in 11th place with a time of 19 minutes and 11 seconds. Other boy runners included Kaid Nickl and Will Touchet, both of which ran to their hardest degree.

The weather changed further as the girls started running. By the time most girl runners had finished, rain was pouring by the bucketfuls with no indication of letup.

Yuki Zbytovsky also finished with flying colors, snatching 6th place and clocking in at 21 minutes and 28 seconds. All runners endured the course, even through (Quite literally) rain and shine.

The next race will be BIIF Championships, 2:30 at Kamehameha.
