Veterans Day Nov. 11

Donna Botelho, Reporter

Veterans Day is coming  up next week and not the kind with the pets! This day (November 11th) honors people who have severed in the military and army. It also marks the anniversary of the end of World War 1.

Not to be confused with Memorial Day,  Veterans Day celebrates  the service of all U.S Military Veterans while Memorial day celebrates those who passed while in service.

U.S President Woodrow Wilson was the first who proclaimed the “Armistice” day for November  11th in 1919, which eventually was modified in 1945 when Veteran Raymond Weeks from Alabama purposed the idea to expand the day to all Veterans, not just those who died in World War I. This led to the first national celebration in 1947.

Fortunately here at Kohala High School we don’t have class on Veterans day so go unload your bag!

Thanks to all the Veterans who have helped served in the military and army and I hope they have a good day on Veterans day, thanks to them all!
