U.S Census Bureau Confirms Hawaiian Pidgin English as Language

Recently, the United States Census Bureau recognized Hawaiian Pidgin English as an official language. From 2009-2013 the bureau surveyed 326,873 people living in Hawai’i about any other language spoken at home besides English. Along with Spanish, Mandarin, Tagalog, and Ilocano, Hawaiian Pidgin English turned out to be top 5 in languages spoken at home besides English. Along with those results, Hawaiian Pidgin English was added to the Census list of over 100 different languages.
