Early College High School Program Offers College Courses and Service for KHS Students

Kohala High School’s Early College High School (ECHS) program is a collaborative partnership with UH Hilo and Hawaii Community College, Palamanui. The ECHS program is a great opportunity for students who are interested in going to college. This program enables students to earn high school and college credits at a minimal cost. Participation in college-level coursework during High School can increase students’ exposure and aspirations to success after High School. Students are provided with the support necessary to be successful. Instructors from UH Hilo and HCC, Palamanui will teach college courses on the KHS Campus.

A meeting will be held to enroll in one of these ECHS courses on Thursday, February 25th, 2016 in room C-16 at the Kohala High campus to go over additional information on these college courses and to allow students to decide if they would like to participate in the program. The meeting is open to both students and parents/guardians, and in order to enroll students must provide their Social Security number.

Hawaii Community College, Palamanui will be offering these following courses:

  • Math Boot Camp
  • English 100, 102
  • Hawaiian Studies, 100, 103, 130, etc.

University of Hawaii, Hilo will be offering these following courses:

  • Sociology 100
  • Psychology 100
  • Astronomy 110
  • Math 100
  • Biology 101
  • Marine Science 100
