BIIF Softball: Cowgirls Take No.2 Seed for DII

Keiko Yamura, Reporter

On March 31, the Cowgirls traveled to Konawaena to battle for second place in BIIF Division 2 softball.

When the Cowgirls were having trouble batting, they took advantage of errors made by Konawaena and ended up scoring 16 points, shutting out Konawaena who only put up 6 runs.

Mikayla Kekoa hit a two-run double in the second as the Cowgirls scored five times, and Jurnee Keawe singled twice in the fifth to fuel a nine-run rally.

Ryah Manning also hit a double, bringing in 2 runs for Kohala, which moved a game ahead of Honokaa and the Wildcats in the race for the No. 2 seed, which earns home-field advantage in the BIIF semifinal playoff series.

The final home game as well as final game of the regular season for the Cowgirls takes place on April 9, which is a Saturday, at 1 pm at Kam Park against Ka’u. Come support the Cowgirls, as it will be their senior game!
