Prom is now just around the corner and every girl is wanting to look and feel perfect, but that doesn’t mean they have to break the bank to do so. Here are 10 tips that may help girls prepare for prom without breaking the bank.

1. Rather than getting an appointment at the spa/nail salon, get ready with your friends. Not only will this save money, but it will also be much more fun!

2. Find online makeup tutorials you like and practice at home before Prom.

3. Find deals on one-of-a-kind dresses at vintage/consignment shops. This will definitely save money and will also ensure no one will be wearing the same dress.

4. During Prom season, smaller bridal and dress shops will offer discounts. There are several smaller dress shops in Kona and Hilo.

5. If you find a dress or suit that fits your budget but doesn’t fit you, get it altered. Most dry cleaners will do this starting around $10.

6. If you’re only going to wear your dress once, just rent it. Most likely Prom dresses will only be worn once, so renting is a great option.

7. Don’t bother renting a limo, ride with friends. Besides its’s way more fun getting to the dance together

8. Get corsages at your local grocery store. This will save a lot of money and will give the same result as a ‘real’ florists corsages.

9. Borrow jewelry. Chances are your mom, some other relative, or a friend has some jewelry lying around somewhere.

10. Above all else have fun! Chances are your mom, some other relative, or a friend has some jewelry lying around somewhere.
