Netflix Prices Going Up

Angelique Kokal, Reporter

Back in October, Netflix announced they would be raising the price of their standard HD plan to $10 per month. The new rate of $10 was expected to be carried out in May. Netflix announced this Monday that they will raise their price gradually over the course of 2016, a strategy they call “un-grandfathering.”

Additionally Netflix will offer a $8-per-month option, presented in standard definition. The standard definition option will also only allow one person to use Netflix at a time. Netflix will also have a even higher priced option of $12 per month, which will broadcast in ultra-high-definition and will allow four people to view videos at a time.

Netflix is expecting several customer losses, but are expecting a vast majority of their customers to stay, saying their content is reliable and is continuously improving.
