Powerful Earthquake Strikes Italy

Destiny Souze, Reporter

On Wednesday, August 24th Ascoli Piceno, Italy was struck with a devastating 6.2 magnitude earthquake resulting in a bodycount of 291 people. A state wide funeral was held for the victims and Italy has marked a day of national mourning for this tragedy. The earthquake not only took lives, but also  irreplaceable architecture; hundreds of buildings were found completely in ruins. The state plans to build wooden chalet-style huts within the upcoming three months for the 2,500 people that were left homeless. Many citizens have teamed up with the Italian Red Cross in this time of need. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families.
