Farm to Schools comes to Kohala

Destiny Souze, Reporter

Kohala High School is testing out a new lunch program. “Farm to Schools” is a fairly new program that works to bring fresh, local foods into cafeterias all around the world.

The definition of Farm to Schools as provided on by their website is, “Farm to school enriches the connection communities have with fresh, healthy food and local food producers by changing food purchasing and education practices at schools and early care and education sites.”

This program helps farmers, students and the general community. Farmers enjoy it because it is an amazing financial opportunity. Students like it because they get some hands on experience and learning opportunity about what they’re eating. This program benefits the community by providing hands on projects. Farms to Schools is changing lunchrooms everywhere.
