The 56th annual Waimea Christmas Twilight Parade was celebrated on Saturday, December 3rd. The parade began with arrivals of the Hawaii County Police Department, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, featuring members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Parade participation also included all members of the West Hawaii County Band, led by director and band master Lisa Archuletta, followed by a large brigade of lighted trucks and floats as they passed along Lindsey Road, making their way to Waimea Park.

This year’s Grand Marshall of the Christmas Parade was Milton Shorty Bertelmann of Kamuela. Milton Shorty Bertelmann served as Captain of the Hokulea who set sail from Hawaii to Tahiti on his fourth voyage, as well as the voyage of rediscovery as it set sail from Tahiti to Aotearoa.

The road closure was in effect from 5:30 P.M. until 6:45 P.M.
